It is hard to sit at the computer and put together one column when you have enough info for ten columns. Lets start guitar legends. My friend Darrlled who works at the 7-11 posed the question, Where have all the guitar hero's gone? Jimmy Hendrex is dead. Stevie Ray Vaughn also passed away. Guys like BB King, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley are old. Even Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck may be to old to have the same passion and fire they once performed with.
I being a guitar player thought that was a good question and had no good answer. There may be a lull in the guitar world. Or maybe not? Guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen from Sweden is coming to the Royal Oak Theater. Yngwie known for his technical proficiency and fusion of classical music elements with heavy rock guitar will be in concert Tuesday, May 16. The Royal Oak Theater 318 W. Forth Street downtown Royal Oak has long been known as a great venue to see live music. Darreld says Yngwie's show is a must see for guitar players and music lovers. Other up coming events include Jazz Royal featuring the Greg Cook Quintet and Renee King Jackson, Thomas Dolby, Jason Mraz, also the Tennessee Three-the men behind the man in black. Brought a smile to my face hearing about Brandie Reamy the 12-year-old young lady from Livonia. now possibly the youngest girl in the world to bowl a perfect game. The United States Bowling Congress confirmed the record. Brandie was 12 years, 4 months and 11 days when she threw 12 consecutive strikes in the second game of a three-game set. Her Sunday Youth Classic Traveling League was at Country Lanes in Farmington
Steve King is a singer in the Steve King and the Dittley's band. He is also a Livonia gym teacher and received the most votes in the Livonia School Board election. Steve is a good guy the kind of guy who prides himself on doing the job right. He will be great on the school board and could end up being mayor senator or even governor.
This is a bit confusing. Jamie Coe is back at Oceans 11. Which was Jammer II and Windjammer's before that. I think they are going to call the club, which is still located on Farmington Road just north of Plymouth Road, Jamie's Back. Which also adds to the confusion because while Jamie will run this new club he and his band are still playing at Jamie's on Ford, which is on Ford Road in Garden City. I am going to go the bar on Farmington Road Thursday night and try to figure it all out.
Bobby
O is at Housey's 40's Chophouse which used to be Mitch Housey's on Scoolcraft
Road east of Middlebelt. Lets see that is near where Ladbrook Race Track used
to be, which was called DRC, Detroit Race Course before that? Pursuit of excellence
is Bobby's goal. 20oz roasted prime rib will be his claim to fame. The Chophouse
also features live entertainment with the Decades on the weekends. Live piano
bar during the week and Benny and the Jets band 7 till 11pm Wednesday, May 17.
