Superbowl weekend, you never know who will be in town, picking up a copy of the
local paper.
We know Kid Rock is doing a concert at Joe Lewis. His rowdy friend
Hank Williams and Bob Seger may show up. Puff Daddy and 3 Doors Down having a party
at the old Tiger Stadium under a portable bubble? Huge Heffner and the Playboy Bunnies
have a party at City Airport. Jimmy Kimble doing his late night TV show from The
Gem Theater. Best Damn Sports Show from the Hard Rock Cafe.
You may still have time to run down to the Ferndale Superbowl Blues Festival Saturday,
February 3, 20 bands 20 stages and most of it free. Benny and the Jets band with
MC JT the Brick from WDFN Fox Sports Radio and DJ Johnny B will be at the Elks Club
Stage on Woodward one block north of Nine Mile Road.
You night note no mention of any Superbowl festivities in Farmington. This despite
several phone calls, e-mails and trips to the Farmington web site which turned up
no reply. I guess the mayor and the people in our "cool city" don't return messages,
send press releases or maybe they are just to cool or to busy. I might note the
guy who runs the Farmington web site did take the time to sent me some e-mail address
but no replies there. Very
little need to put e mail address on a web site if they
don't work or get used.
Superbowl Sunday my band will play at the Winter Blast Rock Stage as part of the
Superbowl pre-game show. If your still looking for a place to watch the game, watch
it with Ben E. at the Gallic Irish American League on Michigan Avenue just west of the old
Tiger Stadium. This show is free and open to the public.
OK, no joking around here. I need to talk some people into helping me promote a
benefit for the Senior's Mobile Meals on Wheels, Friday, February, 10, 5:30 till
7:30pm. This casual dinner dance will be held at the Leo Mahany/Harold Meininger
Senior Center in Royal Oak. The Center is 3500 Marais Street north of 13 mile between
Crooks and Main. Adult dinner is $8.00 kids are $5.00. This is such a good time,
really good food and for a great cause.
But it is all a waste if I can't talk someone into helping. I will be there, I will
sit with you, sing a song for you, meet your friends, put your name in the paper,
give away prizes, anything to talk you into coming. If you need more information call Chris at the American House 248 585 2550 but grab some friends and come to
this.
I hate this being the all Ben E info column, hmmm but in a way I guess it is! This
Thursday February 9 John Cowley's famous Irish pub in downtown Farmington is letting
my band play there. Maybe I could make this my own town meeting or coffee with representative
B. Jet. But I would like to invite all readers, interested people, community atavists,
or as Cindy Loper might say girls who want to have fun, to stop in and have fun.
