I can't believe it is the middle of January already.
My band is going to play Saturday at Woodland Lanes on Plymouth Road in Livonia. I want to try to get to the Auto
Show and I need to start promoting some Superbowl events.
National Fox Sports Radio host JT the Brick, heard overnights on WDFN will be with
my band at the Ferndale Superbowl Blues Festival. We will be at the Ferndale Elks
Stage on Woodward just north of Nine Mile Road. The festival is the night before
the Superbowl Saturday, February 4 and will feature several bands, many celebrities
and sports stars it will be a free event and open to the public.
With the Auto Show in town it might be a good time to mention my Michigan Lotto
idea. Instead of giving 80 Million dollars to one person, why not give away a new
CAR to several hundred people?
So often when one person wins all that money they end up divorced, ruined and unhappy.
As much as everyone would like to be rich that is just to much money for the average
person to handle. And despite what Ronald Reagan believed about trickle down economics
that money dose not spend much time in the local economy.
But give a way a new car, that helps everyone. Several hundred or thousand cars
would generate a lot of money in to the local economy. From the stock holders and
workers who build the cars, to the area suppliers, the folks who sell products to
those the workers. You would think that idea would be a no brainier for the state
of Michigan and the Lotto people and just think if other states followed and gave
cars for prizes. Everyone I know, young and old, rich and poor, we could all use
a new car.
I was in downtown Farmington at Cowley's Pub the other night. I left through the
front doors walked in front of the Civic Theater and noticed in the next store front
window some writing that said "A New American Bistro." Hmm me being a writer in
the local paper I should know about New American Bistro's? I looked around to see
where it was, or if it was open. Pulled on a door, looked down some stairs, heard
some music and there it was. A small, but elegant looking club, called Gala. Jeff
Condit the executive chef told me they have been there for close to a year and were not nearly the secret I assumed. He seemed like a great guy. Gala is a good looking
club, with live jazz on the weekends. A lunch and dinner menu with things like Port-Cherry
Glazed Duck, Wok Charred Coconut-Lime Chicken skewer with toasted peanuts and cilantro.
Soup, fish, salads, vanilla bean brulee with piroulines, Latte, Espresso, and Coffee
This might be a place to take Mrs. Jet on our next night on the town.
