Column for December 22, 2005

I heard from drummer Harry Rodman. His band the Bluescasters will perform December 26, the day after Christmas at Memphis Smoke in Royal Oak.

I always like to mention area bands with cool names. Model Citizen, Rob Roy, Little Sunny Girl, Mike Katon's Blues Band from Hell, Wally's Warehouse Walfs Jazz band, Tommy C, Saxmaniacs, Moose and Da Sharks, White Stripes, Doctor Dixie, Government Honey, Steve King and the Dittlies, Killer Flamingos, Howling Dioblo's, Illegal, War Machine, and the Stubbs Girls. Stubbs as in Levy Stubbs of the Four Tops, who will perform on the Princess Cruse Boat on New Year's Eve.

Crusin Jupiter band will perform New Year's Eve at Oceans 11 formerly Jammers II in Livonia. Jamie Coe who used to sing at Jammers will do New Year's Eve at Jamie's on Ford in Garden City. Yankeeville will bring in the New Year at Walkers which used to be the Crystal Lounge in Dearborn Heights.

Benny and the Jets band will do a FREE NEW YEAR'S EVE CONCERT at the Bear Den, Bar and Grill, 7101 North Dixie Highway, Newport, Michigan just north of Monroe. The night will be open to the public with no cover charge and no reservations needed. We still play every Tuesday at the Wayne Road Pub, Wayne and Palmer Roads in Westland and now every Thursday at Bakers Pub 7847 Telegraph, Taylor.

I heard Arlen. He is the little old man from Livonia, who used to sing in the Salem Witchcraft band. Arlen has been busy busy busy promoting his Christmas CD. He talked to Jim Harper, Dick Purtain, Mitch Albom, Jim Johnson and most any DJ or radio station that would listen. I know WNIC has been playing songs from his CD. I am going to try to get Arlen, who I still believe is the greatest undiscovered singer on the planet, to call in my radio show Wednesday at 5:15p on WPON 1460am and WPON.com. The good thing about having a Christmas CD is it can come back every year. The bad thing is, it is only good for that 3 weeks before Christmas. To contact Arlen or get that CD see his new web site www.arlenrocks.com

I heard from Big Mitch Manns. Mitch known around town as a musicians musician. He is truly the human jukebox, with many musical projects around town. Mitch says he has been helping out at the new Bluesairmen Guitar Store on Ford Road in Garden City. The store is owned my David Goldsworthy who also plays in Bluesairmen band.

I heard from Terry the bass player for Ray Street Park. Ray Street Park band is one of the biggest bands in Detoirt. Terry has been busy promoting Local Detroit Rock Internet Radio via www.live365.com/stations/251947. Also my good friend Tearaway Tom has had a long standing web broadcast at www.live365.com/stations/tearaway.
