Column for June 23, 2005
I know its only rock and roll but I like it. Something Mick Jagger of the
Rolling Stones sang in a song. I guess we have hear a crazy hodge podge of
stuff, some of it could be music related some just random thoughts. But like
Mick Jagger said, I like it.
Interestingly Mick Jagger and the Stones coming to Comerica Park this summer.
I heard tickets are only $400. Lets see if you took the wife and the kids,
plus parking and maybe a pop or two, sounds like a $1500 night on the town.
But the people who have money, have so much they don't know what to do with
it. Hmm that sounds like a possible song for the Rolling Stones. I have said
time and time again, fight taxes and high prices. Try to reward the business
that sell their product cheeper and at the same time, try to be loyal to the
ones that give you quality product or service.
Case in point. Gas prices are too high. Yet time and time again I drive by
a gas station plenty of people buying gas for $2.20 a gallon and right across
the street a station will be selling gas for $2.15. So many people say I am
not going to fight traffic and drive access the street for a nickel. But you
have to remember the station charging $2.20 has no incentive to lower price
if you buy it anyway. If all, the business goes across the street they will
be forced to drop their price.
On the loyalty to quality issue, I bought a pair of Safetrax work shoes from
K-marts. I have wore these shoes everyday for will over two years. I like
them. I fell like they were a great buy, but like all shoes their time has
come. I was out and almost bought a new pair at a different store, when I
decided I need to reward the product that did the good job. So its back to
K-mart and a new pair of Safetrax, size 11.
How about this one for hard to believe. I still have a Sony Trinitron color
TV. That may not seem that hard to believe, but I bought this TV in 1973.
This is back in the day of non-remote. My 14 year old daughter might not even
now what that means except I call her in the room all the time to have her
change the channel for me. Geez that sounds terrible doesn't it. Just like
something my dad would have done to me. You too?
I got several e-mails. One that said the Bluescasters have been performing
at Cowley's Pub in Farmington. Another that mentioned the Loving Spoonful
Restaurant on Golf Pointe Boulevard. They said to try the smoked country pork
ribs, roasted chicken or the New York steak and pan-seared scallops, which
sounded pretty good to me. Gino the Mailman who is a member of the Memories
in Motion car club sent a e-mail to remind me Saturday, June 25 the Waterford
Elks car show at 2100 Scott Lake Road.
