Column for July 8, 2004

It is all about life, liberty, your freedom, your health, and the persuit of happiness.

I sit down and turn on the TV and no one is happy. I see Mike Tyson, celebrating his 38th birthday, one of the most famous boxers of all
time. A guy who had all the money, cars and girls you could dream about and he is not happy.

I see Randy Johnson one of the best baseball players of all time. He gets his 4000 strikeout, but hates his team, hates how his baseball career is
going, he is not happy.

Shaq one of the best basketball players of all time. Has tons of money, has made CDs and movies, won several championships. But he hates Kobe, he
is selling his house and demanding a trade. He is not happy.

Me I am easy, which might be the reason I am happy? I play guitar in a rock and roll band for a living. When I come home, the hottie wife is
waiting for me, wearing a World Championship Pistons T-shirt, holding a fresh tray of sushi with my TV remote next to my overstuffed easy chair.

I know I make it sound so easy. But you have to work at being happy. You have to be grateful not greedy. Try to make the people around you happy and
be grateful if it comes back to you.

Two of my favorite band jobs of the year are coming up. 6 p.m. Saturday, July 10 outdoor BBQ and music festival at the Hazel Park Race Track. Take
I-696 to the Dequindre Hazel Park exit. Free parking, free admission, you can bring the kids and did I mention horse racing too.

Then noon till 4 p.m. Sunday, July the 11th, Benny and the Jets band will be at Motown Harley-Davidson on Telegraph Road just north of Eureka in
Taylor Michigan. You may remember some of the concerts we have done there in the past. The Eddie Money show, Steppenwolf, Mitch Ryder, Kentucky Headhunters, Marshal Tucker some really fun events. This is a free, open to all ages show. Let me be the first to start the rumors about Uncle Kracker coming to Motown Harley.
